How to choose a 3-piece suit you’ll actually wear
By Urban01
A matching kurta, bottoms and dupatta can take the effort out of getting dressed. The tricky part is choosing a set that feels right for your day. Start with where you’ll wear it, then look at fabric and fit before deciding on a colour.
First, check what the set includes
“Three-piece” usually means a kurta or kameez, trousers and a dupatta. It does not tell you whether the outfit is stitched, lined or sold with accessories. Check the individual product description and photos rather than assuming everything in the photograph comes with the set.
Notice the trouser shape too. Straight trousers make a neat everyday pairing; a wider leg gives more movement. Look at the full-length photograph so you can judge the proportions with the kurta.
Choose fabric for the day you have planned
For warm days and regular wear, start by looking at cotton and lawn styles. Lawn describes a lightweight weave; the fibre content still matters, so read the fabric details. A linen-cotton blend can have more visible texture and natural creasing.
For dinners or celebrations, embroidery, a richer colour or a more dressed-up dupatta can change the feel of a simple cut. Do not judge comfort from the outer fabric alone: lining, sleeve length and embroidery placement matter as well.
Measure a suit that already fits you
Lay a favourite kurta flat and compare its measurements with the product’s size guide. Check the bust, shoulder, sleeve and length, plus the waist and hip measurements for the trousers. A letter size can vary between styles.
Check whether the size chart shows body measurements or garment measurements. They are not interchangeable. If you are between sizes or need help with a measurement, contact us before ordering rather than sizing up automatically.
Think about the dupatta before adding jewellery
For daytime, keep the dupatta loosely over one shoulder and wear small earrings with flat sandals or khussas. For a family dinner, drape it more neatly and add jhumkas. An embroidered neckline often needs very little else.
A printed suit can be easy to restyle: pick one colour from the print for your shoes or bag. You do not need an exact match for every accessory.
